From 2009 Academic IELTS Required for Admission to TAFE NSW Institutes

Dear students,

The International Students Centre and TAFE NSW Institutes have recently
reviewed its English language entry requirements. From 2009, all students who are required to submit an IELTS score for admission to TAFE NSW Institutes and our Diploma-to-Degree programs
must provide Academic IELTS scores.

The numerical IELTS scores will remain the same :

• IELTS 5.5 overall for diploma/vocational courses
• IELTS 6.0 for diploma-to-degree university pathway courses.
• Note—selected TAFE vocational courses may also have an IELTS 6.0 requirement e.g. all design courses, digital media

This new requirement makes TAFE NSW consistent with other providers and universities across Australia.

Please ensure you sit for the Academic IELTS if you tend to enrol from 2009. Applications with General versions will be assessed on a case by case basis from 2009.
